In the Advanced Separation Processes (ASP) group we are developing and evaluating adsorptive gas separation for industrially relevant and upcoming separation problems. For these applications, we are investigating commercial as well as novel adsorbents, and design both single-bed as well as multi-bed adsorption schemes.

Our close collaboration with the group of Prof. Matthias Thommes at the Institute of Separation Science & Technology (TVT) enables us applying state-of-the-art characterization methods for morphological and thermo-chemical properties of adsorbents. The created insights are utilized for elucidating structure-property relations of adsorbent materials and a targeted optimization of both materials and processes.

Particular focus of Prof. Malte Kaspereit and the ASP group is on optimal process design and evaluation for realistic industrial conditions. For this, we apply and develop state-of-the-art computer-based tools for process modelling and simulation, as well as parameter determination. For experimental validation, we use a pilot-scale pressure-swing adsorption (PSA) plant equipped with fast online analytics developed in-house.

The ASP group offers various services and collaborations in the above-mentioned fields. Please do not hesitate to contact us.
